The hummingbird and flower are entirely handmade from stainless steel and bronze. At the centre of the flower is a bullet from a 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge.

The handmade mount is constructed from aluminium, brass and bronze.

The reverse of the plate is lined with felt to protect the wall, and a concealed hanging point is incorporated into the back of the sculpture.

Mounted vertically through the centre of the sculpture is an inert .50 calibre round, welded links from a .50cal ammunition belt have been used for the mount.

Every part of the sculpture has been finished with a hard-wearing ceramic clear coat. This protects the metalwork and colours while eliminating the need for polishing.
